Fishing in Närsån, Närsholmen and around the Gotland coast

The surrounding area Gangvidefarm and Närsån offer beautiful nature and a rich animal and bird life. Even below the water surface, the species richness is great, which makes the area particularly interesting for fishing.

Närsån is considered one of the most species-rich waterways in Sweden. Fish species such as perch, pike and roach occur here, but also roach, tench, ide and sometimes the more unusual silver rudd. The biological variation creates good conditions for exciting and varied fishing.

The lower part of Närsån, approximately three kilometers, is open for fishing with a valid fishing license. A fishing license must always be carried and presented upon inspection.

Fishing with a spinning rod or fly rod along the coast attracts anglers from both Sweden and other countries. Sea trout is a strong and challenging fish that can be found along the Gotland coast for much of the year. Spring is the most popular period, but fishing also occurs during other seasons.

Along the Gotland coast, hand-held fishing in the Baltic Sea is free. At the same time, there are rules to follow, including protected areas during certain periods as well as regulations on minimum and maximum sizes and catch limits for different species.
